The Law and Economics Association of New Zealand - LEANZ

The Law and Economics Association of New Zealand Incorporated (LEANZ) was established in 1994. The Association is active in communicating and disseminating information pertaining to law and economics in New Zealand. The Association promotes the application of law and economics to the law and public policy issues. LEANZ accomplished this through literature and the presentation of research results at professional conferences and meetings.

LEANZ seeks to promote public education and awareness of law and economics through teaching and research. A more specific objective is to promote the application of the doctrine among lawyers and professionals in other areas including business, academia, and the government.

The Association encourages open and vigorous debate and welcomes the input of a broad range of ideological perspectives crossing many disciplines. LEANZ values informed debate and discussion of issues and promotes the distribution of information in a form that can be understood by participants from different academic backgrounds.

LEANZ welcomes new members who will enjoy benefits including receipt of LEANZ's newsletter and the right to attend seminars. Regular seminars are organized for Association members and advance notice is announced.

The Association publishes a monthly newsletter featuring brief articles in the field of law and economics. The newsletter is available on the internet one month after it is available to members of LEANZ. Readers are welcome to submit contributions for consideration.
